Review: Syfy’s Caprica is something Marvelous
The new series release from Syfy is Caprica, which is a prequel to the Battlestar Galactic series. Critics have touted Caprica as one of the most intriguing and fascinating series ever released by Syfy. The series has already been released in the DVD format and it is available to the public since last year. The DVD version is uncut and unrated. On the other hand, the viewers who will tune into the TV series will be able to see a world filled with political bribery, sexual perversions, racism, terrorism, teenage rebels and many other facets of the human psyche.
The Caprica series is played out on a landscape and not on the space ships unlike its sequel Battlestar Galactica. The series is projected as the prequel of the Battlestar Galactica series. Therefore, the timeline of the series begins sixty years before the attack on the twelve colonies. The Caprica colony is unique and it has a virtual world of its own where teenagers can express themselves and feel free. The series is based around Daniel Graystone, a computer engineer, played by Eric Stoltz and his daughter Zoe who is a genius level high school student played by the beautiful Alessandra Torresani. The engineer is constantly trying to create the prototype of the metallic Cylons for the first time and has a troubled relationship with his daughter. His daughter however spends a lot of her time in the virtual world interacting with other troubled teenagers.
The series promises to be a big hit among the fans of the Battlestar Galactica series as it is designed to be stylish and real. People who like to watch the character centric science fiction will simply devour this new series from the stables of Syfy. The series also paints the believers of the ‘one’ as a dangerous creed and it promises to be a roller coaster ride for everyone.
