Kara Thrace AKA Starbuck
Kara Thrace also known as Starbuck is one of my top three favorite characters on BattleStar Galactica. There are two main characteristics that people absolutely love about her; number one she has a bad to the bone attitude and number two she is hot. I was at the laser hair removal Birmingham clinic yesterday and even there some guys were talking about how Katee Sackhoff (who plays Starbuck) was beautiful. In the show she has a big problem with authority and following orders. She is not only careless but also believes that she makes better decisions than anyone else no matter their rank.
Admiral Adama has an incredible love for her. His son Zak was married to her before he had died and later she has a crush on his other son, Lee. She is able to get away with disobeying Adama’s orders because he has a fatherly nature towards her.
When the show first began she wasn’t one of my favorite characters but she grew on me. Her childhood was incredibly heartbreaking and you will begin to really indentify and sympathize for her. She often feels unworthy and unimportant because of her past. She could never stay with Lee because they were totally different from each other. She knew that he was much more admirable than she could ever be.
Though Kara feels like she is nothing but someone who screws up all the time, she eventually realizes that she had an important destiny. During the last two seasons she wonders if she is really a Cylon or not. Later she turned out to be more important than the five final Cylons. She became like an angelic creature. Though it was never fully explained who she was but she was used to help the remaining humans to find Earth. Without her their destiny would have been lost.
