President Laura Roslin

President Laura Roslin

Laura Roslin is one of the most interesting characters on BattleStar Galactica. She is one of the oddest characters on the show and as President of the 12 colonies humanity was dependent on her. She had breast cancer during the show which may have changed how she approached decisions. She is passionate about politics as it can be seen from the very beginning of the show. I am also passionate about politics so I can relate to this part of her character, every Wednesday after my laser hair removal Birmingham appointment I volunteer time for a local campaign.

Before becoming president she was just a secretary of education but because of the nuclear destruction of the colonies she is rushed into the role of President as she was the only government official left. She had no issues giving orders as president. She very often fights with Admiral Adama, it was evident that in the beginning of the show they couldn’t stand each other but eventually they both had a love interest in one another. They are both different in many ways. Roslin was often motivated by religious visions and puts other people at risk based on them. Although she was religious she was quite skeptical about her decision making abilities. Her emotions often guide her decisions and she also discussed the decisions made with Adama.

She could not stand Dr. Gaius Baltar at all. She even cheats in an election against Gaius Baltar because she believed cheating and winning would be better for the remaining human race than Gaius Baltar as president. She did get caught and this was a decision she never justified to Adama because she knew she was wrong in doing so.

She made some risky decisions but those decisions help the humans find their way to earth.
