I have long been a huge BattleStar fan, but have never watched too many other sci fi programs on TV. That was until I came across the show called Game of Thrones. Although it is not set in a futuristic, outer space world, it is set in a parallel world, which in many senses seems to resemble medieval Britain at times. It is a superb show, which seems to have gained a massive cult following in its first season.

The program follows the lives of a number of different groups of people who are all building up their armies to try and gain control of Kings Landing, which they all believe should be theirs. There are seven different kingdoms, each having a different set of peoples and cultures. The show has some outstanding characters in it, and as the series progresses, the story line gets better and better. For those who have never seen it before, I would strongly suggest you get the DVD of season 1 and get up to date as soon as you can. Anyone who has seen season 1 will almost certainly be watching the progression of season 2 on TV right now. What makes the show such as success in my eyes is the fact that although it is a sci fi program, it has its roots set in a place which many people are familiar with, and it could seemingly be happening on earth in a place back in time. Having said that, what makes it even better is the twists of the unusual, with the inclusion of powers, dragons and other interesting magic. The special effects are great, as is the costume and makeup team. You can really tell that they buy cosmetics from the highest quality producers, as the cast look fantastic.

There are a number of extremely famous actors and actresses in the program including the star of season 1, Sean Bean. The story line is getting increasingly tense now, and it seems as if the writers have got the balance right between action, romance, adventure and mystery. This is not easy to do, and it is always telling when a series ends on a cliff hanger, that season 2 is set to be a good one. I thought I would tell you all about the show as sci fi fans, I thought it would be right up your street, or galactic highway! watch it now to see what all of the fuss has been about, and you will not be disappointed.

I was looking up a directory for red diesel Huddersfield when my friend Darren asked me what my favourite BattlestarGalactica episode was. I froze for a minute. There are so many to choose from, that I love for different reasons and depending on the mood I’m in. Some get better with age while with others, the initial thrill diminishes somewhat with time. One that has always held a place for me though, is Unifinshed Business, episode 9 in Season 3. Michael Taylor, who wrote the script, was nominated for a Nebula Award in 2006 for his part in it.

The plot of the episode revolves around the introduction of a boxing ring by the crew – an old military tradition where rank is put to one side. As this progresses, we spend some time with Starbuck and her estranged husband Samuel T. Anders. The tense, difficult relation between the couple is mirrored in the ring as the competition really gets underway. Old grievances come to the fore as the episode crescendos to its inevitable denouement.

I think the reason I like this episode so much is that it encapsulates all that I love about the show. Naysayers who don’t like sci-fi at all criticise the programme without realising that behind the spaceships and futuristic veneer, real human stories are being played out in exactly the same way as they are in Jane Austen or Thomas Hardy’s novels or adaptations. The fact that BattlestarGalactica deals in human drama in this way is unquestionably one of its main attractions as a television programme. The philosophical musings of Philip K. Dick are just as much part of the sci-fi genre as the humour of Douglas Adams. I think people sometimes forget that and dismiss the whole genre. Have a look at BattlestarGalactica and let it change your mind!

When you hear rumours mixed in with a bit of facts chances are your skin will feel like it’s on fire from the resulting excitement depending on what the prevailing rumour is. That is how I feel when I heard late last year that the beloved Battlestar Galatica might be hitting the big, big silver screen. Ever since then I have noticed that the Internet s a buzz with the usual who, what, where, when, and the preverbal how.

Now so far there are no poster yet on any of the display stands i trot past everyday but word is that Bryan Singer will be bring the show to the big screen. Also it is believed that screenwriter extraordinaire John Orloff will be writing the script. This will surely please the BSG SyFy TV series fans who have all been asking, in fact, downright demanding an adaptation of the series to the big screen.

The concept of the movie is believed to be the same as the series, that is, that the survivors of the human race are searching for earth after the massive Cylon attack.

Fans are curious about what format the new movie will truly take since a script has not been written yet. Questions are swirling around as to whether or not Admiral Adama will be in the new movie, will Lt. Starbuck be a man this time, are the Cylon masters going to be as sexy as in the last series. Many were not sure that they liked the idea that the Cylons looked human and that Starbuck was a woman in the new series but eventually they all came around.

Although none of the people involved in the project are revealing too much if anything all right now. So I guess we will all have to wait until next year or even the year after before we see this movie.

A must for any true Battlestar fan is a convention; there is no better way to get up close and personal with your favourite stars and get in on the action. The next con for the UK is scheduled for 11th-13th of May in 2012 and there will be no shortage of banner stand images and merchandise.

This event is Inva2ion and also covers a number of other sci-fi based TV shows such as Caprica, V and Stargate Universe. There will of course be guest talks, photo opportunities and autograph chances, in May this event will be held at the Renaissance Hotel at Heathrow.

There is much more to a convention than most, who have never been, would expect. It’s not just about listening to a panel from your favourite show, buying merchandise and getting pictures taken. Many of the totally diehard fans go the extra ten miles, dressing up is normal and for some it is a tradition.

Anyone who is not into sci-fi based shows tend to think of this type of behaviour as geeky or simply strange, but it is all about absorbing yourself in the atmosphere and really getting into the swing of it. Of course this doesn’t mean you have to dress up, jeans and a T will suffice if you’d rather not get into character.

A word of warning though, once you’ve been to one convention, you will have the bug and want to go again and again. Herein lies the problem, the UK doesn’t get as many events per year as the U.S does, 1-2 at most, so when they do come around you really need to make the most of it. So if you want to get tickets for this event get onto the starfury website and book now before they sell out.

It’s tragic. I very often meet sad individuals – and by sad I mean individuals who haven’t had the good fortune to see this infamous series that I have had – who have never even heard of Battlestar Galactica, let alone watched it. A deep depression always comes over me when I hear of this, and I feel compelled to tell them all about a few characters.

On a more positive note, I once met someone who knew a lot about the series; and through them I found this great online printing website that sold Battlestar Galactia merchandise. I’m not sure if it’s still around anymore, but just the thought of some complex machine carefully crafting a poster of one of the stars I am about to talk about fills me with love and adoration. OK, I’m calming down now. Here, if you would like to get comfy, is a brief over-view of a couple of much loved characters.

…he was more than just a colonel who just stood around polishing his medals…

1) Adama: the commander of the wondrous Battlestar Galactica ship, Adama was also the head of the refugee fleet (among other prestigious accolades which I wish there was time to go into here but alas there is not!). But more importantly than that, this man possessed a charisma that was far more powerful than almost anyone in the galaxy, and it was this presence which was a hallmark of his origin: for he was considered to be the spiritual leader of the remaining Colonists…that’s right, this man was not mucking about! Basically, the point is that if you took this man out of the equation, the series wouldn’t be anywhere near as good.

 2) Now we move onto Colonel Boomer, who as the very beginning was known more officially as Lieutenant Boomer – and don’t you get that wrong!Herbert Jefferson Junior was the man who made the colonel come to life, and a pretty serious piece of work. You see, he was more than just a colonel who just stood around polishing his medals. He was also an experienced Colonel Viper master pilot and someone who went in all guns blazing, but also cool and calm and collected.

3) And after reading just those two bios, how could you not already be intensely intrigued as to what other gems are on offer? If I’ve said it once I’ll say it a thousand times, and would here if space allowed! BG is an incredible piece of work and something that will always stand the test of time for as long as Space remains really interesting. Yes!

Battlestar fans will defend their favourite programme to the death. I’ve seen it happen at social events when a group of us have turned on a sci-fi fan who has said something innocent, yet dumb, like “I don’t see the difference between Battlestar and Star Trek”. We’re more likely to wear a bespoke wedding suit to the next Comic Con than admit that Battlestar might actually have its flaws.

Yet if we’re honest, there has been one major problem with the Battlestar shows; Caprica. This was the so-called ’prequel'that was more like a futuristic LA Law than the interplanetary excitement and intrigue we had come to expect from BG. So when I heard that another prequel was in development you’ll forgive me for not getting too excited. After all, I didn’t want to get let down like last time!

But there are signs that Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome might actually be worth getting excited over. It tells the story of William Adama as a young man and, more importantly, is back in space where any self-respecting sci-fi TV show or movie belongs. So far, so good. The only problem now is that Blood and Chrome has been “in development” for months, with no sign of any characters even being cast, let alone any episodes being produced. The Syfy channel had shown some initial interest, but are now making cryptic remarks that have lead many BG and sci-fi fans to speculate that they are only planning to make the show available online. I can understand their reluctance after getting their fingers burned on Caprica, but surely a new TV show that has the magic phrase “Battlestar Galactica” in its title has got to be worth at least a pilot episode?

For anyone who is reading this article then you definitely should have heard of Harry Potter. You will find very few individuals or communities all over the world who have not heard about this particular persona. Why then is Harry Potter and the publications and movies so popular? In my opinion this is actually a mixture of things, to begin with the publications are extremely well written as well as the stories themselves are fascinating to children as well as grown ups. The movies are not placed in this particular world, which allows childrens imagination to go wild plus they can easily connect with it much more.

In my opinion a large factor is actually which Harry is definitely a really likable youngster as well as the undeniable fact that the stories in the movie could be related to by kids. Each and every child at some time may be denied something by his or her mother and father and be upset with them. When you are a kid your mother and father tend to be like God and so they possess complete power over their kids, having Harry to be able to get away. I believe this really is something each and every kid may relate too. I definitely can easily as I am no longer a kid. Furthermore the truth that the Dursleys symbolize what we often observe in typical households as well as the simple fact the grown ups tend to be second to the action with all the children being the primary stars.

The magic concern is an additional essential fact. Each and every child would like to believe in the secret world involving magic in which the underdog is a hero. The movie offers the rather ingenious hidden aspect like typical everyday things possessing magical characteristics. JK Rowling is really a genius, she has the brilliant imagination that she has been able to get across in the movie and have all of us hooked.

Harry Potter will give you the ride of your life!

The gizmos as well as games in the movies are everyone’s fantasy. Soaring on brooms, participating in Qudditch, heading back in time are things children would die to do as well as grown ups alike.

Kids and grown ups may connect with many things from the movie. Coping with the bully, not having your own way as well as having family problems. This is exactly what all kids and frequently grown ups cope with.

Just like each and every great story, it will play with your feelings, you really feel compassion for Harry when his mother and father die and you feel authentic delight when he’s having fun with his close friends. Each and every base is covered within the movies; there exists a great badie Voldemort as well as a good amount of suspense and mystery.

For those who have never read or seen the Harry Potter book or movie and are considering doing so you will end up significantly surprised. The movies will take you a long way away from your home and away from tedious things such as laser hair removal birmingham and give you a ride of your life! Have Fun.

This program chronicles the everyday life involving Rory Gilmore, the sixteen-year-old unpopular girl, as well as her thirty-two year-old mom Lorelai. The foundation of the program is Lorelai bringing up her daughter, who’s right now the identical age that she was at that time she became pregnant. Lorelai worked straight up to handling the neighborhood Inn in which Rory works following school and the both of them possess a relationship which is much more like sisters rather than daughter/mother.

The ‘Gilmore Girls'is undoubtedly an intelligent program with speedy, humorous dialogue which frequently refers to music, literature, pop culture as well as movies. Each actress truly receives an opportunity to live in his / her role mainly because each persona, even probably the most peripheral, is actually characterized by a rather unique character and not simply a job. “Gilmore Girls” plays a distinctive, innovative, as well as complex perspective of the connection between the decades. On occasion one woman may step outside her part and become the Mother or Child to one of others. I would suggest any individual looking for clever, humorous television watch this particular program which is actually filled with love. This is a rather touhching program.

Also Anna, April’s mom (Sherilyn Fenn), hit prevalent notes. THE protecting mother, she insisted Lorelai keep away from April at least until she as well as Luke became married in order to avoid April from getting hurt. Lorelai doesn’t agree with this–the romance was strong and she tried to reassure Anna, nevertheless, she did not realize. She had protected Rory through numerous suitors for exactly the same reason.

 Top Role:

Lauren Graham, Yanic Truesdale, Scott Patterson, Ed Herrmann, Kelly Bishop, Melissa McCarthy, Keiko Agena, Liza Weil, Sean Gunn, Jared Padalecki, Liz Torres

Director: Amy Sherman

Story involving Gilmore Girls

Lorelai Gilmore, thirty-two, has a real close connection with her child Rory which leads them to be frequently mistaken for sisters. Between Lorelai’s connection with her mother and father, Rory’s brand new prep school, as well as both of their intimate situations, there is an abundance of drama to go close to.

This particular program is extremely touching. It is suggested you give it a watch. Not only will you be entertained, but you will be amazed at how entertaining it is as well. Both of them play a big part of this TV program with their own exceptional characters. Anyone who watches this program will be delighted. It’s a much more pleasant thing to be doing rather than getting laser hair removal birmingham.

Of all the characters on BattleStar Galactica the most interesting is Colonel Saul Tigh. He is later revealed to be one of the final five Cylons but he still has a massive hatred for Cylons. He may have even hated the Cylons more after he found out he was one of them. He is a hardliner to the core and everyone tends to hate him. He is the balance to Admiral Adama; while Adama is stern he isn’t seen as cruel like Tigh is. Unlike Dr. Gaius Baltar, Colonel Tigh does not need to check in to a laser hair removal Birmingham clinic (as he has very little hair).

Colonel Tigh is very indecisive on the show. This is because Admiral Adama has always been there making most of the decisions whereas Saul was the one who makes sure they are carried out. When things get out of control Tigh is the one who declares Marshall Law. He doesn’t have the presence or strength of command that Adama has. Just because someone is feared as a leader doesn’t mean that they can maintain control.

He has little care for the President or the decisions she makes. They come from two different points of view and never saw eye to eye. Though he agreed with the decision to flee from the Cylons and find Earth he had a deep hatred for the Cylons and wanted retaliation.

We see Saul Tigh go through some good times and some bad times. He is a much darker character than Admiral Adama who is seen as the hero. He is very dedicated to the cause of humanity; he was so fanatical that he poisons his own wife to help the Cylons. His character really adds a lot of tension and drama to the series.

Lee Adama also known as “Apollo” is an excellent character on BattleStar Galactica. We see his character changes throughout the entire show. He goes from being a pilot, to a commander to the President of the colonies. He was exceptional at every role in the series. The men at the laser hair removal Birmingham clinic love to talk about the Battlestar Galactica all time and how Lee Adama made a brilliant and charismatic politician in the show.

The major problem with Apollo in the show is that he was insubordinate. Though he is very different than Starbuck this is the one area in where they are the same. He even held Colonel Tigh at gunpoint because he had an instinct. He is the exact opposite of his father William Adama who is not as emotional as his son. Like his grandfather he was more cut out for politics than the military.

Throughout the entire series Lee is in search of something. I believe he finds it by the end by realizing that he doesn’t want to be seen as just the son of Admiral Adama but he wants to be taken more seriously than that. He wants to be something more than what his father had intended. As we see toward the end of the series he became a skilled politician without the help of his father. He rose up to become a leader in his own right. He also is the one to convince everyone to destroy their ships and technology to make a life for themselves on planet Earth.
